Board accepts FY2020–21 audit; auditor reports no issues and ~96% tax collection rate

Paul Lee of Robinson Farmer Cox Associates presented the county's FY2020–21 annual audit at the Dec. 9 Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors meeting and reported no issues or concerns found during the audit. Lee said expenditures were elevated because of CARES Act and ESSER funds for the school system and noted the tax collection rate is “around ninety-six percent.”
After the presentation, the board voted by roll call to accept the audit; all seven supervisors voted yes. Administrator Tracy M. Gee and others were commended for cooperation during the audit process.
The auditor also noted that area workload increased during the pandemic and that ARPA funds will produce another notable increase in next year’s figures; the board did not take additional fiscal action at the meeting beyond accepting the audit.
