Arlington near completion of Town Hall renovation; board to serve as Financial Advisory Board; holiday events announced

Town Planner Jeremy Credeur told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Dec. 1 that the Town Hall renovation is approximately 95% complete and that the moving process will begin the next Monday, with the move expected to take two to three weeks; he said Town Hall should be open to the public by mid-January and the first board meeting at the new building is planned for February.
Mayor Mike Wissman announced that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will serve as the town's Financial Advisory Board going forward; Town Administrator Catherine Durant said the first work session will be held in mid-to-late January and a second in early April so the board can review budget information earlier in the process. The mayor reappointed members to the Industrial Development Board and the Library Board as listed in the minutes.
Chief Harvill recognized local students who won awards in the State Fire Marshal's 2025 Fire Prevention poster contest on the topic "Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home." The minutes list Charlotte Buchholz (10th grade), Eric Reyes (11th grade) and Kylee Belt (12th grade); Charlotte Buchholz was present to receive local certificates and the state prize.
Tonia Howell of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce said Shepherd's Haven will perform caroling at the Chamber's final luncheon of the year and noted the Chamber is four members short of 400. Town Administrator Durant reminded the board of upcoming community events: Christmas on the Square on Dec. 5, a Christmas parade on Dec. 13 and the town's 125th anniversary celebration on Dec. 19.
The board recorded no grievances or public comments during the meeting. The minutes indicate standard committee reports and financial materials are on file at Town Hall.
