Summary
The county approved a one-year, $76,100 IT co-management contract with Karhu Cyber, authorized interim IT services not to exceed $6,000 per month for up to three months, and directed Administration to seek a contracted Information Technology Coordinator position subject to later board approval.
Benzie County commissioners on Nov. 14 accepted a proposal from Karhu Cyber for IT co-management services at an annual cost of $76,100 and approved interim IT services not to exceed $6,000 per month for a period up to three months. The board also authorized Administration to seek a contracted Information Technology Coordinator position; any contract will be returned to the board for approval.
Karhu Cyber representatives Curtis Pennala and Matt Esperance delivered a presentation and answered commissioner questions. The board stated funding would come from the General Technology Department and available grants; related budget adjustments from contingency were approved.
The motion passed by roll call (all aye; Commissioner Markey excused). The board separately authorized Administration to advertise or negotiate for a contracted IT coordinator and required that a proposed contract come back to the board before hiring is finalized.
The county did not vote on creating a permanent in-house position at the meeting; the action authorizes seeking a contracted coordinator and accepting a third-party co-management arrangement.
