The Benzie County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 27 approved a $300,000 budget amendment to recognize grant revenue and related expenditures tied to a Brownfield Redevelopment project in Honor with Ture North.
Commissioner Sauer moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Cunningham seconded; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Commissioners Cunningham, Jeannot, Markey, Nye, Roelofs and Sauer voting aye and Commissioner Warsecke excused. The board’s action formally recognizes both incoming grant revenue and the corresponding project expenses in county records.
Board members did not request additional changes to the amendment during the meeting. The Brownfield line-item will be added to the county’s fiscal records for the project in Honor, which the board has flagged as a priority economic development effort in prior meetings.
Next steps noted at the meeting: project expenditures will be tracked in the county budget and procurement and contract approvals for related work will follow county purchasing rules.
