Authority tables Transportation Coordinator/Recycling position pending staff review

The Charlevoix County Transportation Authority on Jan. 14 voted to table consideration of a draft Transportation Coordinator/Recycling job description until the next meeting after directing county staff to evaluate where the position should reside.
The transcript states funding for the Transportation Coordinator position is included in both Transit’s and the Transportation Authority’s budgets and that the last memorandum of understanding on the topic was signed in 2018. The board’s consensus was to have County Administrator Kevin Shepard, H.R. Coordinator Leah McGuire and Transit Director Joe Kroll meet to determine whether Transit can continue to house the Transportation Coordinator position.
Scott Hankins moved to table the item; Michael Cunningham seconded and the motion carried by a 3-0 roll call vote. The board requested the results of the staff meeting be provided at the next regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 11, 2025.
