The Barry County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to grant an exception to the county nepotism policy to allow incoming Undersheriff Kevin Erb to work in the same department as his daughter, Sheriff Cadet Jacquelyn Erb. The motion, moved by Commissioner Jon Smelker and supported by Commissioner Mike Callton, passed 5-3.
The roll-call vote recorded ayes from Commissioners Mike Callton, Mark Doster, Catherine Getty, David Hatfield and Chair David Jackson; Commissioners Bruce Campbell, Jon Smelker and Bob Teunessen voted no.
