Morton County Commission approves revised plat, multiple abatements and 9-1-1 fee agreement

The Morton County Commission approved a revised plat for the county shop property, a set of property tax abatements and a Joint Powers Agreement on 9-1-1 fees during its regular meeting on Sept. 14, 2023, at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan.
Chairman Nathan Boehm called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Commissioners Zachmeier, Leingang, Buckley and Morrell and Auditor Dawn R. Rhone were present; States Attorney Koppy and Sheriff Kirchmeier also attended. Commissioner Buckley moved to approve the agenda with an addition; Commissioner Morrell seconded, and the motion carried with all voting aye.
The commission approved the Aug. 22, 2023 regular meeting minutes after a motion by Commissioner Morrell and a second from Commissioner Buckley. Commissioners then approved bills and payroll following a motion by Commissioner Leingang and a second by Commissioner Morrell; both motions passed with all voting aye.
In a series of grouped motions the commission granted several abatements: #6250 (moved by Buckley, seconded by Leingang); #6251–6252 (moved by Morrell, seconded by Boehm); #6253–6254 (moved by Buckley, seconded by Leingang); #6255–6257 (moved by Leingang, seconded by Morrell); and #6258 (moved by Buckley, seconded by Morrell). Each motion carried with all commissioners voting in favor.
The commission also approved and authorized Chairman Nathan Boehm to sign a revised plat for the county shop property after a motion from Commissioner Morrell and a second from Commissioner Buckley; that motion carried unanimously. Later in the meeting the board approved a Joint Powers Agreement with NDACo related to 9-1-1 fees (motion: Morrell; second: Buckley), again with all voting aye.
Auditor Dawn R. Rhone reported that total county funds expended from Aug. 23 through Sept. 14, 2023 amounted to $1,958,953.08 and noted that a detailed list of expenditures by check is available for public inspection at the Morton County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours.
Chairman Boehm adjourned the meeting at 5:56 p.m.
