Council grants second reading for utility easement related to cell tower site on West Wesmark Boulevard

County Attorney Johnathan Bryan presented Ordinance #22-977 on June 28 to approve a utility easement over property on West Wesmark Boulevard that Sumter County leases to FTC, Inc. The easement would allow utility lines to be placed underground to serve a cell tower located on the property. Mr. Bryan told Council that the exact location of the utility line had not been finalized but should be by the next meeting.
Councilman Artie Baker moved, Vice Chairman James R. Byrd seconded, and Council voted unanimously to grant second reading as presented. A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for July 12, 2022, at which time more detailed location information is expected to be available.
