Dunn County awards $1.15 million contract for 103rd Avenue road project to low bidder

The Dunn County Board of County Commissioners voted Feb. 18 to award the 103rd Avenue reconstruction project (CP-13(25)03) to Edward Schwartz Construction for $1,152,663.03, the low bidder among 11 submissions.
Jeremy Wood of Northern Plains Engineering opened bids for the project at 10:00 a.m., listing offers from Baranko Brothers, C3 Energy, Central Specialties, Edward Schwartz Construction and others. After reviewing the bids and recommending the low bidder, Wood returned to the board and recommended awarding the contract to Edward Schwartz Construction. Commissioner Kleemann moved to award the contract; Commissioner Pelton seconded the motion, which passed on a roll-call vote with all commissioners voting aye.
The county’s bid opening record recorded Edward Schwartz Construction’s bid at $1,152,663.03; other bids ranged higher, with several contractors submitting offers above $1.5 million. Engineer Wood told the board he would follow the county’s procurement procedures in issuing any notices and preparing contract documents.
The board previously opened related road and materials bids earlier in the meeting. The award completes the county’s near-term procurement steps on the 103rd Avenue project; work scheduling and a formal contract signing will follow final engineering and required paperwork.
The board reconvened at 10:55 a.m. to consider Wood’s recommendation and adjourned after approving the award.
