The Delaware County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 16 approved an amendment to Guy Engineering's on-call contract to include hydraulic and environmental studies for bridge and culvert sizing, a change the county says will strengthen applications for PACT funding through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
District 3 Foreman Russell Martin told the board Guy Engineering's original on-call agreement did not cover hydraulic or environmental studies. The amendment sets a contract cap of $150,000; Martin estimated the studies will cost roughly $20,000 per bridge. The board authorized the amendment and said District 3 will cover the engineering costs.
Commissioners Poindexter and Callihan voted to amend the contract; the board noted the goal of starting the studies is to make funding requests more attractive to ODOT.
Staff listed follow-up steps to initiate the hydraulic and environmental work under District 3's budget and to report progress back to the board.
