Delaware County HR reports staffing, new accommodations process; commissioners forward a tort claim and approve a road bore for Cleora schools

Human Resources Director Vicki Cossairt told the Delaware County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 25 that the county has 133 employees, one new hire in process and one recent exit. She said the county currently shows 11 posted jobs, seven of which are open positions in the Sheriff's Office.
Cossairt said new legislation effective Nov. 1 requires approval for service animals or other Americans With Disabilities accommodations and that the county has a form to apply for those accommodations. She urged employees to report workers' compensation claims promptly and recommended employees use Urgent Care of Grand Lake for non-emergency injuries to avoid emergency-department bills.
Cossairt also described employee-focused activities: a Shop With A Cop fundraising collection is under way, county safety awards will be included on the Dec. 15 paycheck, and hams will be distributed to employees on Dec. 16. She advised staff to refill prescriptions before Jan. 1 because insurance deductibles reset on the new year. Cossairt closed by wishing employees a Happy Thanksgiving.
Separately on routine administrative business, the board voted unanimously to receive and forward a tort claim from Samuel Warren (District 3) to the county's insurance company. The board also approved a road-bore application by Travis O'Neal of Able Plumbing for work at 451336 E 295 Rd related to Cleora Public Schools' expansion. Commissioners signed payroll affidavits and approved minutes for the Nov. 18 meeting earlier in the session.
The motions on the tort claim and the road-bore permit carried by roll call vote with Commissioners Callihan and Beck consistently moving and seconding routine actions.
