The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners unanimously accepted a Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant of $75,000 for District 3 during its Feb. 23 meeting. Commissioner Robert Clark moved approval; Commissioner Scott Hilton seconded, and Chairman Mike Furnas and both commissioners voted aye.
The board also approved a REAP contract between Grand Gateway Economic Development Association (GGEDA) and the Board of County Commissioners on behalf of District 3, and authorized a certificate of authorized signatures for the grant acceptance. The motions were recorded as separate agenda items and passed without discussion.
To support a District 3 capital purchase, the board approved using Fund #1103 (CBRI105) to buy a mowing tractor, with the purchase to be reimbursed from REAP Grant 014-RP-2026 (the $75,000 award). The motion specified the reimbursement arrangement; the board voted unanimously.
Separately, the board approved Resolution #2026-7 to transfer equipment from District 2 to District 3 — a Sterling dump truck, a Valk snowplow and a Salt Dogg spreader — which the agenda lists as supporting District 3 operations. All REAP-related and equipment-transfer motions were moved by Clark, seconded by Hilton, and recorded as unanimous votes.
The actions are intended to fund and equip District 3 for routine maintenance and mowing operations; the record does not specify vendor details for the mower purchase beyond approval to use the listed fund and the reimbursement source.
