Whitfield County board approves March financial statement showing collections above budget

Finance Director James Garvin presented the March 2021 financial statement showing stronger-than-projected collections. Garvin reported March collections of $1,224,371, 28% higher than budgeted collections of $958,333, and year-to-date revenues of $8,083,815, $234,492 (3%) above projections. TAVT receipts for March were $624,525; March also included annual IRP receipts of $90,236.
Commissioner Robby Staten moved to approve the financial statement and Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded; the motion passed 3-0. County officials described overall expenditures as below projection (YTD expenditures $11,076,186 versus projected $11,738,080) and emphasized the reported collections as a positive near-term development.
The board did not change any tax rates or adopt new revenue measures at the meeting.
