Whitfield County approves Riverbend Park land purchase, equipment bids and utility easement

The land purchase from AMQ Farm LLC was approved with a not-to-exceed price of $4,200 per acre pending negotiation and appraisal; the motion passed 3-0. Parks and Recreation recommended acceptance of equipment bids for goals, nets, benches, bleachers, backstop padding and other field supplies; the board approved the purchases as SPLOST-funded capital items.
The board also approved a utility easement requested by Dalton Utilities to simplify park utility connections; the motion passed 3-0. Separately, commissioners approved a CGI Communications agreement to produce a free county video tour.
The minutes record approvals but do not include a development schedule for park construction or an exact closing date for the land purchase.
