Whitfield County commissioners approve agenda and enter executive session to discuss personnel

Chairman Jevin Jensen called the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners’ special called meeting to order Aug. 18, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at 201 S. Hamilton St., Dalton, and led the pledge of allegiance.
Commissioner Barry W. Robbins moved to approve the agenda as presented; Commissioner John Thomas seconded. The board approved the motion 4-0, recorded in the minutes as Commissioners Greg Jones, John Thomas, Robby Staten and Barry W. Robbins in agreement.
The board then voted to move into executive session to discuss personnel. Commissioner Greg Jones moved to go into executive session and Commissioner Robby Staten seconded; the motion passed 4-0, with Commissioners Thomas, Robbins, Staten and Jones recorded in agreement. The minutes state the executive session included Chairman Jevin Jensen, Commissioners Robbins, Thomas, Jones and Staten, County Attorney Robert Smalley and Human Resources Director Jackie Carlo.
After the executive session, Commissioner Greg Jones moved and Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded a motion to come out of executive session. That motion was also approved 4-0, with Commissioners Robby Staten, John Thomas, Barry W. Robbins and Greg Jones recorded in agreement. The meeting was then adjourned by unanimous vote.
