Whitfield County suspends two Dalton alcohol licenses pending court proceedings

The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 on Oct. 11 to suspend two on-premise malt-beverage licenses for businesses at 4111 S. Dixie Highway in Dalton: Autry’s Diner (Unit 9000) and Brotherhood Billiards (Unit 4000).
Commissioner John Thomas moved to suspend the licenses and Commissioner Greg Jones seconded the motion. Meeting minutes note that Rick Autry Jr.'s court date is scheduled at the end of October; the board said a revocation decision could follow depending on the court outcome.
The suspension preserves the county’s options while the criminal proceedings proceed; the board did not take action to revoke either license at the meeting. The motion carried unanimously, with Commissioners Jones, Thomas and Robbins recorded in agreement.
