Whitfield County board approves alcohol license for Dalton restaurant and names Edwards Park room for former commissioner

The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners approved a malt beverage and liquor license for Don Lolos Mexican Restaurant (3590 S. Dixie Hwy, Dalton) during a special called meeting on Jan. 27, 2022.
Chairman Jevin Jensen opened a public hearing on the application; no members of the public spoke. Commissioner John Thomas moved to approve the Alcohol Beverage Application for a malt beverage and liquor license; Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded. The motion carried 3-0, with Chairman Jevin Jensen and Commissioners Thomas and Robbins in agreement; Commissioners Robby Staten and Greg Jones were absent.
Also during the meeting Chairman Jevin Jensen presented a plaque naming the conference room at Edwards Park the "Harold Brooker room" in honor of former District 2 Commissioner Harold Brooker. The minutes record that Brooker served on the board for 24 years and advocated for the expansion of Whitfield County recreation facilities.
At the start of the meeting a motion to approve the agenda was made by Commissioner Barry W. Robbins and seconded by Commissioner John Thomas; that procedural motion was approved 3-0. The board adjourned unanimously after completing business.
