At its Feb. 13 meeting the Tift County Board of Commissioners filled two board seats and ratified a commercial purchase agreement.
County Clerk Miriam Jordan said two Tourism Board seats had expired; Pat Welker sought reappointment and Jonathan Judy applied for one seat. Commissioner Stan Stalnaker nominated both and moved to appoint them; Commissioner Paul Webb seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
Following the recent death of Planning Commission member Gene Tompkins, Zoning Board of Appeals member Lynda Fisher expressed interest in the vacant Planning Commission seat. Commissioner Stan Stalnaker nominated Fisher and moved to appoint her; Commissioner Greg Wood seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
County Manager Jim Carter asked the board to ratify the commercial purchase and sale agreement for the "old gazette building" at 211 N. Tift Ave. Commissioner Greg Wood moved to ratify the agreement and authorize staff to proceed with closing; Commissioner Paul Webb seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
