Commission reappoints tax assessors, appoints county manager to Two Rivers, and tables multiple items

The board took a series of unanimous votes at its Oct. 1 regular meeting on routine appointments and procedural tablings.
Resolutions recorded in the minutes show the commission reappointed James (Jim) Wiehe to Post 5 and Ken Vanhorn to Post 4 on the Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Board of Tax Assessors; both terms are recorded as expiring Dec. 1, 2028. The commission also appointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to serve on the Two Rivers Regional Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2025.
On procurement matters, the board approved using a credit vehicle purchase for board use so the county would not lose the vehicle, and tabled two other vehicle purchases for the sheriff and EMA until December while awaiting SPLOST results. The commission tabled a request for the Board of Education to use Old City Hall and postponed voting on a cardboard compactor, cemetery bylaws, and making an engineer of record until a later meeting or work session. The board also approved a refund to Beverly Riley and rescheduled the November regular meeting to Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m.

For example, Commissioner Hoyte moved to reappoint James Wiehe and Commissioner Frost seconded; Commissioner Douglas moved to reappoint Ken Vanhorn with Commissioner Hoyte seconding. All recorded votes in the minutes were unanimous among commissioners present.
