At the Oct. 1 meeting, resident Teresa Parrish — represented in remarks by J.D. Abercrombie — said she received a warning after dirt from her driveway ended up on the road following heavy rain. J.D. Abercrombie said crews subsequently cleaned the driveway and questioned why other similar driveways had not received citations on the same date.
Abercrombie said a code‑enforcement officer visited Sept. 13, a day the county received two to three inches of rain; he said the driveway had thick sand and that they cleaned it without heavy equipment. He also said he submitted a work order for Patterson Road on Sept. 20 to address ditches and a clogged pipe; the board’s minutes say the road was made passable but that further work occurred about 10 days after the work order was filed.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said the county issues warnings to inform residents of hazards discovered after storms and described the warnings as part of a formal system to track problems, adding that staff complete immediate safety fixes and return later to finish repairs. Chairman Charles Coffey told the meeting that warnings are a courtesy and that the county can issue citations immediately when warranted. Commissioner Jason Frost noted the motor grader had been out for repairs, limiting immediate responses.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; County Manager Weaver said the issue raised by the resident would be covered at the next work session for further attention.
