Chattahoochee County holds two millage-rate hearings as officials propose keeping rate at 8.512 mills

Chairman Charles Coffey and County Manager Thomas Weaver led two public hearings in August where the county’s proposed millage rate was presented as 8.512 mills.
At the called public hearing on Aug. 19, Coffey said the rate "is basically staying the same as last year" and noted the county’s gross digest had increased by just under $64 million; he described the digest and rates as public records available for inspection. On Aug. 26 the commission held a second hearing and Weaver reiterated that the proposed rate was 8.512 mills and pointed to the publicly advertised five‑year digest history. Both hearings drew no speakers from the public.
Weaver thanked the Tax Assessor’s and Tax Commissioner’s offices for preparing the digest and reminded the public that the county had advertised the hearings and posted information on the county website. The county also noted the school millage rate in materials presented at the hearings.
The work session on Aug. 26 listed formal adoption of the millage as an item to be added to the commission’s next regular meeting agenda; minutes do not record a formal adoption vote on Aug. 19 or Aug. 26.
