County reports recurring failures at Fire Tower Road tank and well #3; electrical surge suppression ordered

County Manager Thomas Weaver briefed the board that the Fire Tower Road tank experienced another outage and that the county brought in a private contractor (Hammock Wells) for an expedited response. Staff said the failures appear to be electrical rather than mechanical and that they are investigating a depressed grounding field or other site conditions.
"We feel like it is an electrical issue," Weaver told the commission and said the county ordered a surge suppression system that is being produced in Texas and expected within about 20 days; staff also discussed temporary HVAC options for sensitive electronics and the potential need to hire an electrical contractor if on-site grounding or line issues are confirmed.
In a separate work session update, staff reported persistent electrical problems at well #3, that Burgamy Electric has performed much of the recent electrical work, and that the county conducted five service-line leak repairs and hired two new water-department employees. A leak on Highway 137 was also under repair.
Commissioners did not take separate formal action in the Sept. 2 minutes beyond noting the report; staff said they will return with findings and recommended repairs or contract awards as needed.
