Cusseta–Chattahoochee commissioners approve multiple bids for roads, buildings and dog pound expansion

At its Oct. 7 meeting the commission voted unanimously to put road resurfacing to bid and to award contracts for a fishing dock, storage building, City Hall welcome center work and dog pound kennel additions, and declared two county buildings surplus.
The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County on Oct. 7 approved a string of procurement actions and project awards that the minutes record as unanimous motions.
The commission voted to put resurfacing of Riverbend Road and Liberty Hill Road out to bid. It also approved the only submitted bid for the Riverbend fishing dock project and awarded that contract to Wahoo Dock. For the 215 McNaughton Street storage building project the commission approved the project and awarded the concrete work to Chattahoochee Concrete and the building procurement to North Carolina Carports. The lower bid from Chattahoochee Concrete was selected for the City Hall Welcome Center refurbishing project. For the Cusseta Dog Pound kennel expansion the county awarded concrete to Rock Solid Construction, fencing to United Fencing, and the building to McGuire Buildings.
Commissioners also declared two county-owned structures surplus—the King Street building and the old fire station on Fire Tower Road—with demolition planned and an expressed intent to retain the existing slab at the old fire station for potential future reuse.
All motions were recorded as unanimous in the Oct. 7 minutes. The minutes show the motions and seconders (typically Commissioners Biddle and Frost) but do not include contract dollar amounts, delivery schedules, or vendor contract copies in the public minutes.
What’s next: work will proceed under the county procurement and contracting process; bids for paving will be solicited following the motion. The Riverbend dock project remains contingent on required permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as noted in subsequent work-session discussion.
