County auditor outlines absentee ballot taskforce and timeline

Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz briefed the commission June 23 on plans to form an Absentee Ballot Taskforce to review absentee ballot procedures ahead of upcoming elections.
Mr. Litz identified four initial members: Kea Warne (South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office), Sue Roust (former Minnehaha County Auditor), Deb Elofson (Minnehaha County citizen with Election Review Committee experience) and Curt Soehl (Sioux Falls City Council member). Two additional members are being sought. Litz said a series of three taskforce meetings are tentatively expected to begin in July 2020 with a final report planned by the end of August 2020.
The briefing also referenced ongoing efforts to ensure accurate contact information for pretrial services and to budget Safety & Justice Challenge Grant funds appropriately. The taskforce will report its findings and any recommendations to the commission when complete.
