County approves $1.7M in bills, personnel actions, abatement and a vehicle purchase

At its June 23 meeting the Minnehaha County Commission recorded a set of routine administrative approvals, including payment of vouchers, personnel changes, an abatement, and a vehicle purchase.
The board approved bills totaling $1,713,505.96 after a motion by Commissioner Barth, seconded by Commissioner Beninga (4 ayes). The vouchers list contains detailed vendor payments recorded in the county’s fiscal records.
Personnel actions approved included the promotion of Sebastian Acuna Acosta from Correctional Officer to Deputy Sheriff (effective June 27, 2020) and step increases for Corey Heise and Mason Braun. A motion by Commissioner Beninga, seconded by Commissioner Heiberger, carried each personnel item (4 ayes).
On tax matters the commission approved an abatement for Parcel ID #90481 (Paul Fick Homes Inc.) in the amount of $4,291.42 (MOTION by Beninga, seconded by Barth; 4 ayes).
Emergency Management Director Jason Gearman requested and received approval to purchase one 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 from the South Dakota State Bid (Contract #17342) at a cost of $31,339.00; the vehicle will be paid from the Emergency Management approved FY2020 budget (MOTION by Barth, seconded by Beninga; 4 ayes).
Each approval was recorded by roll call with four commissioners voting in favor; one commissioner was absent. These routine administrative actions were taken as part of the meeting’s consent and business agenda.
