The Minnehaha County Commission approved the meeting agenda, the July 7, 2020 commission minutes and bills totaling $5,776,594.74 at its July 14 meeting.
Commission Chair Jean Bender called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. A motion by Commissioner Karsky to approve the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Beninga, carried on a 4-0 roll call vote. The July 7 minutes were approved on a motion by Commissioner Beninga, seconded by Commissioner Barth, by the same roll call margin.
Commissioner Karsky moved and Commissioner Barth seconded a motion to approve the vouchers and bills totaling $5,776,594.74; the motion passed by roll call vote: 4 ayes. The itemized voucher list presented to the board included hundreds of line items and many vendors (examples in the record include Amazon, Avera McKennan, Double H Paving and the State of South Dakota), which collectively compose the authorized payment total.
The commission received and placed on file several departmental reports including the Minnehaha County Coroner’s May 2020 report, the June 2020 Register of Deeds revenue statement, the July 2020 Highway Department construction report and the June 2020 Sheriff’s monthly report. Vicki Huitt, Accounting Manager, presented Auditor’s Office financial reports including General Fund and Highway Fund cash balances and year-to-date revenue and expenditures.
The commission recessed for a short break and later reconvened to take further business and go into executive session.
