Minnehaha County to administer remaining $300,000 in One Sioux Falls funds under MOU with community foundation

The Minnehaha County Commission authorized the chair on Aug. 11 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation to distribute remaining One Sioux Falls Funds.
Human Services Assistant Director Lori Montis told the Commission that $300,000 remains to be dispensed. Under the MOU the community foundation will provide funds to the County and assist in identifying disbursement parameters; Minnehaha County staff will determine applicant eligibility. Montis said eligibility parameters include household income up to 200% of the federal poverty level and a maximum of $2,000 in utility assistance per household.
Commissioner Heiberger moved to authorize the Chair to sign the MOU; Commissioner Beninga seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
The MOU runs through Dec. 31, 2020, or until the funding is depleted. The County did not specify additional application mechanics at the meeting; staff will administer eligibility determinations under the parameters described.
