BVH Architects present Loveland Elementary design update; board to consider approval Nov. 17

Westside Community Schools hosted an informational meeting on Nov. 14 in which BVH Architects presented the Design Development package for the Loveland Elementary Phase II bond project. No official board action was taken at the session; the board is scheduled to consider the design package for approval at its Nov. 17 meeting.
Matt Herzog, with Project Advocates, confirmed that the district posted public notice of the meeting on its website beginning Nov. 7 and that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted at the meeting and online as required. The meeting notice was also published in the Omaha Daily Record on Nov. 13 and listed through the Nebraska Press Association.
Presenters Matt Wegener and Kristin Kotera, both with BVH Architects, described the Design Development package for the new Loveland Elementary School, saying the concept designs were previously approved on June 16, 2025, and that an update was presented to the board on Sept. 8, 2025. The architects said they have continued to work with the Loveland Design Advisory Committee and district staff to refine the design ahead of the board review on Nov. 17. Presenters also said staff and students will relocate to the district's swing school at 108th and Grover while construction proceeds.
The meeting materials and minutes list Dana Blakely and Meagan Van Gelder as board members in attendance and identify Beth Morrissette as secretary for the Board of Education. The session was described in the record as informational only; no motions, votes, or formal approvals were taken during the Nov. 14 meeting.
The district-provided proof of publication and the architects' presentation materials will be part of the record when the board reviews the Design Development package at the regular Nov. 17 Board of Education meeting.
