Electoral Board will survey polling places for ADA compliance costs and refer findings to Board of Supervisors

The board said the information on hand was incomplete and directed board members to contact individual polling places to determine actual costs. The board also required that the Administrator’s request be submitted in writing for the Board’s records.
Board members discussed notification requirements and estimated the timeline from proposal to approval for moving or changing a polling place to be about 90 days. No dollar amounts or specific costs were provided at the meeting; the board’s decision was to collect concrete estimates and refer them to the Board of Supervisors for any budgetary or policy action.
The board recorded no formal vote on the referral itself in open session; staff and board members will follow up to collect information and present it to the Board of Supervisors.
