Charlotte County Electoral Board retains officers, approves minutes and sets calendar for June primary

The Charlotte County Electoral Board voted on Jan. 5, 2023 to retain its current leadership and approved routine administrative items as it prepared for a busy election year.
Assistant Chair Glenwood Foster moved to keep Glenn Baker as chairman, Foster as assistant chairman and Aubrey Fane as secretary; the motion passed without objection. Earlier in the meeting, Mr. Foster moved to accept the minutes of the Dec. 1, 2022 meeting; Mr. Baker seconded and the motion passed without objection.
General Registrar Virginia Booth presented the board with a packet that included a written report, bills submitted for January, a budget synopsis through December 2022 and notices for polling‑place change procedures. Booth told the board that election‑day payroll has been paid and that candidate packets for the November election are ready; those packets must be returned by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Booth also said party chairs were asked to submit their recommendations for officers of the election by Jan. 15, 2023 and that the board will approve the list and select chiefs and assistant chiefs at the February meeting.
On funding and equipment, the General Registrar reported a purchase‑service balance of $10,438.38, which she said should be sufficient to support the anticipated June primary. The board recorded the State Electoral Board annual conference dates, March 24–27, 2023, and discussed scheduling budget sessions for the coming fiscal year.
The board adjourned at 3:08 p.m. after a motion from Mr. Foster and a second from Mr. Fane; the motion carried without objection.
