Drakes Branch OKs polling-place move; Electoral Board forwards letter to county

The Charlotte County Electoral Board said Feb. 9 that Drakes Branch has granted permission to relocate its precinct’s polling place to a new town building and the board has forwarded the town’s letter to County Administrator Mr. Witt for inclusion on the Board of Supervisors’ agenda. Mr. Witt will advise the Electoral Board about the public-hearing schedule.
General Registrar Jenni Booth told the board the letter from the Drakes Branch town office had been received and passed along to county administration so the Board of Supervisors’ process can begin. The board described the matter as "moving forward" and said it will await the county’s public-notice timeline before taking additional procedural steps.
The relocation is procedural at this stage: the board has documentation from the town authorizing the move and has initiated the county-level next step. The board also noted related administrative deadlines: the registrar and board are preparing budget materials and will discuss the matter further at a scheduled budget workshop on Feb. 13.
No formal vote or final decision on the new polling location was recorded at the Feb. 9 meeting; the board’s announcement centered on receipt of the town’s letter and transmission to the county administrator for the BOS agenda.
