Charlotte County Electoral Board reviews primary preparations; registrar reports early-voting and absentee totals

Chairman Glenn Baker and the Charlotte County Electoral Board on June 1 approved minutes from the May 4 meeting and heard a progress report from General Registrar and Director of Elections Virginia Booth on preparations for the June 20 primary.
Booth told the board that early voting was underway with 37 voters recorded to date and that 33 absentee ballots had been mailed, with 15 returned. She said office staff were continuing to process candidate information for the November election and had completed training with precinct chiefs and assistant chiefs for the June primary.
Office preparations include updating staff handbooks, testing voting equipment and checking and repacking supply bags, Booth said. She also reported that voter notices were being mailed to inform residents of a polling-place relocation in Drake's Branch and that election officers were still needed for the primary.
The board reviewed key dates: Saturday early voting on June 10 and June 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; June 19 was listed as a holiday; the primary election is June 20; and the deadline for candidates to file for local offices is 7 p.m. on June 20.
Procedurally, Mr. Aubrey Fane read the minutes from May 4 and Mr. Glenwood Foster moved to accept the minutes as amended; the motion was approved without objection.
The board did not receive public comments during the meeting. The next operational milestone is machine delivery and site setup scheduled for the week of the election.
