Charlotte County schedules officer-of-election training, L&A test ahead of Nov. 7 election

At its Oct. 5 meeting, the Charlotte County Electoral Board confirmed dates for officer-of-election training and scheduled a logic-and-accuracy test for the county’s remaining voting machines.
The board listed training sessions for Oct. 23, 24 and 26, with an additional session on Oct. 28 and a make-up opportunity on Nov. 4 for anyone who misses the earlier dates. Officials said a logic-and-accuracy (L&A) test for the remainder of the voting machines is set for Oct. 20 at 1:00 p.m.
Ruth Poe, identified in the meeting transcript with the prefix 'B/S', led the training remarks and instructed precinct chiefs and assistant chiefs to confirm they can open e-poll books and voting machines. Poe advised giving extra training to workers who had problems in the previous election and emphasized safety and security during operations.
Board members also noted outreach plans: the office will have a voter registration tent at the start of the Truckers Parade, and staff recently held a registration drive at Randolph-Henry High School that produced five registrations. The board’s Nov. meeting items were previewed to include a mock canvass and setup procedures for polling locations and the office’s canvas operations. The meeting adjourned on a motion by Glenwood Foster, seconded by Aubrey Fane, carried without objection.
