Regional council demonstrates code-hosting tools; committee told cemetery-management grant opens Feb. 1

The Wales Planning & Zoning Committee approved meeting minutes and heard a software demonstration Jan. 20 before adjourning.

Cade Penney, representing the R6 Regional Council, demonstrated a code-hosting software package available through Jones & DeMili Engineering and described a separate city cemetery-management program that could be funded through an upcoming government grant. Penney said the grant opens Feb. 1, 2026, and identified Amy Berry as the contact for the grant; he added that the town clerk would advise the council on applying or pursuing the opportunity.

The demonstration focused on how the code-hosting software could support the committee and town workflows; the committee did not take action on purchasing software at the meeting. No specific grant amount, application requirements, or deadlines beyond the Feb. 1 opening date were provided during the presentation.

Before the presentation, the committee secretary read minutes from the Planning & Zoning Committee meeting held Nov. 18, 2025. Ron Garff moved to approve the minutes as read; Reid Hall seconded and the motion passed unanimously among members present.

The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn by Ron Garff, seconded by Austin Shepherd. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Next steps noted in the meeting record: the town clerk is expected to notify the council about the grant opportunity and any staff follow-up needed to pursue the cemetery-management software grant or further evaluate the code-hosting product.
