County signals intent to award day-shelter contract to Urban Ministries of Durham

Durham County staff updated commissioners on Jan. 5 about RFP No. 26-012, the County’s solicitation for a Homeless Day Shelter and Services Program, and informed the Board of the County’s intent to award the contract to Urban Ministries of Durham pending finalization of scope and budget.
Samantha Smith, management analyst in the County Manager’s Office, summarized the RFP background, need for the program and the components recommended in staff materials. She said staff will work with Urban Ministries of Durham to finalize the scope of work and program budget and will bring a finalized contract to the Board for formal approval.
The Board received the update and asked staff to provide historical and future data collection related to the program; no final contract vote or execution occurred at the Jan. 5 work session.
