City manager presents January finances and water treatment plant schedule

At the Feb. 18 meeting, City Manager Jason Brown presented the Jan. 2026 financial statement and reported on the water treatment plant project under design by Sunrise Engineering.
Brown said the budget year is 58% complete with total budgeted revenues realized at 48% and expenses at 48%. He provided fund-level figures: water revenues at 7.0% of budget and expenses at 4.3%; sewer revenues at 61.5% with expenses at 33.7%; the electric fund at 53.1% revenues and 39.9% expenses.
On infrastructure, Brown said the new filtration system needs to be ordered in mid-March and that construction of the plant is expected to take eight to ten months. He said the SCADA system upgrade will allow city staff to monitor tank levels, stream flows and filtration equipment remotely. Brown also said the filtration building location was adjusted to preserve space for a potential future water tank.
The council did not take a formal vote on the water project at the meeting; staff flagged procurement timing and ordering deadlines as the immediate next steps.
