Garfield County commissioners approve December highway spending limits, bridge contract and courthouse pump replacement

The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners approved several funding and contracting measures at its Dec. 1, 2025 regular meeting in Enid.
Vice‑Chairman Reese Wedel moved to approve the minutes of the Nov. 24, 2025 meeting, and the board voted unanimously to adopt them. The board then approved three spending resolutions that set maximum monthly highway and project expenditures for December: Resolution #25‑129 ($3,681,068.08 for highway expenditures), Resolution #25‑130 ($2,867,602.44 for CBRI project expenditures) and Resolution #25‑131 ($280,730.17 for CIRB project expenditures). Member Joe Kegin Jr. and Chairman Clarence Maly joined Wedel in voting aye on each item.
The board approved payment of an Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) Claim Form 324a and an invoice for J/P 28679(04) covering work on the Imo Road — Fox Road to Highway 412 project in the amount of $9,750. Vice‑Chairman Wedel made the motion; it passed unanimously.
Commissioners also approved a $39,835 written quote from Slater Mechanical to replace a vacuum condensate pump for the boiler at the Garfield County Courthouse. Member Joe Kegin Jr. moved to authorize a contract and the Notice to Proceed with Dietz Welding and Bridge Construction (Bid #26‑3) for bridge work over two unnamed creeks, in the amount of $177,950; that motion also carried.
The board examined and approved a list of warrants, purchase orders and claims across several county funds, including multiple sizable warrants for the county detention building. The minutes list purchase orders and vendor payments for general, highway, health department, sheriff service fee and rural fire department funds; agenda items not acted upon were carried forward to a later date.
Under new business, Vice‑Chairman Wedel moved to rescind Resolution #2025‑128 (approved Nov. 24, 2025), which had canceled FY2023 warrants for the Rural Fire Departments totaling $576.00, and to bring those warrants forward to FY2026. The motion passed unanimously. The minutes record motions to adjourn and to meet again on Dec. 8, 2025; the adjournment motion is recorded twice in the minutes and both entries show the same unanimous vote.
The meeting record lists Clarence Maly as chairman, Reese Wedel as vice‑chairman, Joe Kegin Jr. as member and Lorraine Legere as Garfield County Clerk and secretary. No formal dissent or abstentions were recorded on the motions listed in the minutes.
