Spencer County wins $1.317 million in state discretionary paving funds

Spencer County Judge Executive John Riley announced on Nov. 2 that Gov. Andy Beshear’s administration approved $1,317,343 in discretionary paving funds for the county.
Riley said the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Bobbi Jo Lewis recognized the county’s need for repairs and approved funding for 12 rural roads to support economic development. "The total amount approved was $1,317,343.00," Judge Riley said. He listed the roads on a county exhibit that breaks the award down by road name, route number, length and allocation.
The money, Riley and the county materials show, will be applied to roads including Murray Road (CR 1090), Old Van Buren Road (CR 104), Yoder Tipton Road (CR 1142) and several others; the exhibit shows individual allocations adding to $1,317,343.00. Commissioner Bobbi Jo Lewis was listed as attending and verified the award in a county exhibit distributed to the court.
Why it matters: Spencer County’s road network serves farms, small businesses and commuter traffic; county officials said resurfacing these segments will support local transportation reliability and economic activity. Riley publicly thanked Gov. Beshear, Commissioner Lewis, Rep. James Tipton and Sen. Jimmy Higdon, and credited Road Department Foreman Todd Burch and the county road crew.
