Simpson County announces early voting schedule; court authorizes voter parking and security lock addition

Judge/Executive Mason Barnes announced early voting Nov. 3–5 at the Historic Courthouse and Election Day polling locations; the fiscal court authorized marking College Street for voter parking and approved adding the Emergency Management door to the courthouse security lock system (cost not to exceed $2,999.20).
County Judge/Executive Mason Barnes told the Simpson County Fiscal Court on Nov. 1 that early voting will be held at the Simpson County Historic Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5. On Election Day, Nov. 8, polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse, the Ag Building at the Community Park and Simpson Elementary School on Witt Road.
On a motion by Magistrate Marty Chandler, seconded by Magistrate Scott Poston, the court authorized marking the east side of College Street adjacent to the Historic Courthouse for voter parking during the three-day early voting period and on Election Day. The motion was recorded as Yes-All (all five members listed as present voted in favor).
Emergency Management Director Robert Palmer reported that the department has scheduled two evening CPR classes at the Community Park and one daytime class at the Historic Courthouse. Palmer also asked that the Emergency Management suite door be added to the courthouse security lock system. On a motion by Magistrate Marty Chandler, seconded by County Judge/Executive Mason Barnes, the court authorized a contract with AAA Systems to include the Emergency Management door in the installation with the cost for that addition not to exceed $2,999.20.
Later in the meeting the court entered executive session under KRS 61.810(1)(c) to discuss proposed or pending litigation at 9:00 a.m., reconvened at 9:10 a.m. with no action taken, and adjourned at 9:12 a.m.
