Simpson County fiscal court advances budget amendment, approves transfers, vehicle bid and appointments

The Simpson County Fiscal Court on Dec. 6 approved multiple finance and personnel actions, including first reading of FY22/23 Budget Ordinance No. 220.245 Amendment No. 3, approval of cash and budget transfers, acceptance of a vehicle bid for Public Works and a slate of board appointments.
The court voted to approve a cash transfer of $4,465.46 from the Federal Grant Fund to the General Fund and a transfer of $138,664 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund. It also approved several internal budget transfers reallocating funds from a transfer reserve to specific line items (presented with account codes and amounts in the meeting materials). The budget amendment was advanced on first reading (motion by Nathaniel Downey; second by Myron Thurman); minutes record unanimous approval of the first reading.
The court accepted a bid from Hunt Ford of $49,034 for a 2023 Ford F‑250 for Public Works (motion by Nathaniel Downey; second by Scott Poston; unanimous). The fiscal court also approved appointments of Anna Scates to the Codes Enforcement Board (three‑year term beginning Jan. 1, 2023), Ronnie Stilts to the Franklin‑Simpson Planning & Zoning Commission (four‑year term beginning Jan. 1, 2023), and Jordan Hawkins to the Franklin‑Simpson Planning & Zoning Board of Adjustments (four‑year term beginning Jan. 1, 2023). Motions for appointments were made and seconded; votes were recorded as unanimous.
The court approved bills and claims as submitted for a long vendor list covering routine county expenditures and payroll costs and approved the Nov. 30, 2022 financial statement subject to audit and authorized Treasurer Nicole Law and Judge/Executive Mason Bames to sign. County Attorney Sam Phillips reminded the public that 2022 property taxes may be paid at face value through the end of the year before late fees apply. The court adjourned at 8:53 a.m.
