Simpson County court authorizes engineering RFP for KY 100 East and Eddings Road; public meeting set on 31W widening

The Simpson County Fiscal Court on Dec. 6 authorized the county to advertise a request for proposals for engineering services to prepare development plans and specifications for widening and improving KY 100 East and Eddings Road. The motion authorized County Judge/Executive Mason Bames to sign any necessary documents; the motion passed unanimously (mover: Myron Thurman; second: Scott Poston).
Judge/Executive Bames also announced a public 'come & go' meeting set for Dec. 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Salmons General Baptist Church. KYTC District 3 Engineer Joe Plunk is scheduled to attend and answer residents’ questions about proposed widening of 31W North between KY 1008 and Reasonover Drive.
Public Works Director Bobby Groves reported that Arnold Consulting has prepared a state permit application for the Kenny Perry low‑water crossing project; the application will address stream crossing and water‑quality certification requirements. Groves also warned that patching and paving work may be delayed until spring due to deteriorating weather, which could affect the timing of roadway improvements.
County officials said the engineering RFP is intended to produce the plans and specifications necessary for future construction and for any state or federal permitting. The public meeting on Dec. 13 provides an opportunity for residents to review proposed changes and ask technical questions of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet representative.
