Fiscal Court approves budget transfers, bills and a $5,000 vehicle settlement

During the April 18 meeting the Simpson County Fiscal Court moved through routine fiscal business, approving multiple budget transfers, a lengthy list of bills and claims, and the March 31, 2023 financial statement subject to audit.
Magistrates approved transfers that reallocated funds for fuel, computer software, vehicle purchases and an electrical inspection contract among other line items. The court approved advertising for FY23/24 asphalt and crushed-stone bids to be due May 26 and set a public hearing for County Road Aid and LGEA on May 16 at 8:30 a.m. A planned discussion to authorize sale of county vehicles was tabled to allow further department input.
The court entered executive session under KRS 61.810(1)(c) to discuss proposed or pending litigation and exited roughly 25 minutes later. After returning to open session, the court authorized acceptance of a $5,000 release agreement with FCA US LLC to resolve an economic-damages claim for a 2020 Ram 1500 assigned to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department and authorized Judge/Executive Mason Bames to sign the agreement.
The court adjourned at 11:45 a.m. and began discussion on the FY23/24 budget as the final agenda item; no budget adoption was recorded at this meeting.
