The Simpson County Fiscal Court on April 18 adopted two resolutions authorizing county officials to apply for state grant funds. County Clerk Austin Johnson presented a resolution under House Bill 1 authorizing the filing of an application for up to $113,885.64 for election equipment; the court authorized County Judge/Executive Mason Bames to execute any needed documents and act as the project's authorized correspondent.
The court also adopted Resolution No. 2023-04-18KOHS, authorizing Judge/Executive Bames to apply for law enforcement protection funds through the Office of Homeland Security and to execute related documents. Both resolutions passed with unanimous recorded support by the magistrates present.
The authorizations allow the county to pursue competitive or formula grant funds but do not yet commit local matching funds or set procurement specifics; any subsequent acceptance of awards or contract actions will be considered at future meetings.
