Franklin County Fiscal Court approves grant applications, authorizes bids for road garage

Franklin County Judge/Executive Michael Mueller called the Fiscal Court to order at 6:28 p.m. March 14 in the Fiscal Court Room in Frankfort. The court unanimously approved minutes from its March 1 meeting and received the treasurer’s report before taking several routine actions.
The court voted to approve three separate resolutions authorizing applications to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management for 2023–2024 grant funds. Squire Eric Whisman moved to approve Resolution #6-2023, an application for Household Hazardous Waste Management grant funds; Squire Sherry Sebastian seconded, and the motion carried with all members voting in favor. Whisman then moved to approve Resolution #5-2023, an application for Kentucky Pride Fund recycling grant funds; Squire Richard Tanner seconded and that motion also passed unanimously. Finally, Whisman moved to approve Resolution #7-2023, an application for Kentucky Pride Fund composting grant funds; Squire J.W. Blackburn seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The court did not debate those applications at length; records show each resolution passed by unanimous vote. A separate agenda item proposing a $50,000 donation to the Simon House to assist with personnel costs was removed from the agenda and was not considered or voted on during the meeting.
On other business, Squire Scotty Tracy moved, and Squire Richard Tanner seconded, to authorize advertising for bids for a Road Department maintenance garage building; the motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
