Fleming County Fiscal Court approves month-end finances, advances budget amendment in unanimous votes

The Fleming County Fiscal Court on March 9 approved the county Treasurer's month-end report showing total county cash of $2,753,162.01 and passed a series of routine budget, contract and personnel measures by unanimous vote.
County Treasurer Kathy Dryden presented the February 28, 2021 month-end report showing General Fund $1,636,025.41, Road Fund $277,568.05, Jail Fund $6,384.93, LGEA Fund $173,283.19, Forest Fire Fund $1,563.30, Revolving Loan Fund $14.34, Dispatch Fund $362,388.47 and Capital Improvement Fund $295,934.32. The court voted to approve the report as presented.
The court also approved claims and carry-in claims, budget transfers and cash transfers as presented. The Fiscal Court gave unanimous first reading approval to REVISED Ordinance 21-1323, a budget amendment, which will return for further consideration under the county's ordinance process. Dryden also presented the proposed FY2021-2022 Jail Fund budget and the court discussed the schedule for completing the full county budget.
On personnel and contract matters, the court approved hiring Jason Thurman as a part-time transport officer effective March 8, 2021, at $3.85 per hour for on-call duty and $10.00 per hour for transport duty. The court approved maintenance contracts with Tri-State Elevator for the Judicial Center and Courthouse. The Fiscal Court declared two Fleming County Sheriff vehicles surplus, transferring a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria to transport officers and listing a 2013 Dodge Charger for sale at the next online auction with Chuck Marshall Auctions.
