Residents of U Forbes Way appeared before the Fleming County Fiscal Court on Feb. 9 to request that the county adopt their private lane into the County Road Maintenance System.
The residents asked the court to accept the lane for county maintenance. The court discussed the county’s roadway adoption process and whether any prior written or verbal commitments had been made by previous administrations, the county road supervisor, a realtor or the development owner at the time properties were purchased.
Judge/Executive Larry H. Foxworthy asked that all interested parties — property owners, the realtor and the development owner — attend the next Fiscal Court meeting to validate any prior commitments or to provide documentation. The meeting record does not indicate a vote or final action on the request; the item was set for follow-up at the next meeting.
Next steps: county staff and the parties requesting adoption must present any contracts, correspondence or other evidence showing prior commitments; the court will revisit the request at the following meeting.
