A private proposal to redevelop Rodeo Park in Snowflake was presented to the Town Council on May 4 by Jodie Flake, who said the project would be privately financed and would not require town capital funding.
Flake described a phased, roughly 10-year plan that would include an indoor playground, skybox seating, a theater, campsites and trails. "This is a $10-$15 million project over a 10-year period," Flake said, and confirmed the Flake family would finance the work and initially would not seek town funding. She asked the town to consider leasing the property to the private developer and potentially offering in-kind supports such as discounted heavy-equipment rentals and the use of town insurance for events.
Councilmembers acknowledged potential community benefits but said the proposal currently lacked detailed cost breakdowns and feasibility analysis. Bob Flake and Councilmember Lewis asked for sharper financial numbers and clarity on lease termination and reimbursement terms; Ballard recommended consulting the town attorney to clarify how a public–private relationship would be structured.
No formal action to authorize negotiation or a lease was recorded in the minutes; councilmembers asked staff to examine legal and fiscal implications and to return with more concrete details before proceeding.
