Sevier County’s Intergovernmental Committee on Oct. 10 approved a proposed update to the county’s ambulance fee schedule, the first fee increase since 2007, with a planned effective date of Jan. 1, 2025.
Mayor Larry Waters and Director Rick Valentine presented the change and told the committee the proposed rates were developed in collaboration with Chief Cole of the City of Gatlinburg Fire Department. Director Valentine described the schedule as intended to update revenues and better align county billing with current costs; the committee did not debate alternative rate proposals at length.
Commissioner Jack Parton moved to accept the rate changes; Commissioner Chad Ogle seconded the motion. The committee approved the proposal unanimously.
The committee did not adopt additional billing or collection changes at this meeting. County officials said the proposed start date for the new rates is Jan. 1, 2025, and that staff will coordinate implementation details with emergency-service partners before that date.
