Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter and Assessor of Property Thomas King presented a review of the county’s current leased properties and outlined which departments would move into the Hatcher property under the proposed agreement. Commissioner Kent Woods moved to appropriate the funds; Commissioner Mike Chambers seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Committee members said the move would consolidate offices currently in leased space, though specific departments to be relocated were identified only generally in the presentation. The motion and the committee’s approval authorize staff to proceed with the lease negotiation and contingent funding steps; the Intergovernmental Committee and full board must still sign off.
The committee did not specify lease terms or the appropriation amount at the meeting. The matter is scheduled for the Board of Commissioners’ Oct. 21 meeting for final action.
