Commission authorizes multi‑year service and lease agreements for jail alarms and school copiers

Franklin County commissioners on Oct. 16 approved two multi-year contracts: a contracted services agreement with SimplexGrinnell (Resolution 8b-1017) to provide inspection, testing and maintenance for the jail’s fire alarm and sprinkler components, and a multiple-year lease/maintenance agreement with Konica Minolta for copier hardware and service for the Franklin County Board of Education (Resolution 8e-1017).
Commissioner Doug Goodman moved to approve the SimplexGrinnell contract and Commissioner Johnny Hughes seconded; the commission approved the measure by a unanimous voice vote. The SimplexGrinnell proposal included annual inspection and testing of the county’s fire alarm and wet-pipe sprinkler components and documentation of tests and results.
On the same agenda, after a Finance Department handout describing the proposed equipment and service package, Commissioner Iris Rudder moved to approve the Konica Minolta multi-year lease and maintenance agreement for school offices and instructional technology; Commissioner Barbara Finney seconded and the motion passed 15–0.
The SimplexGrinnell contract and the Konica Minolta lease both permit multi-year terms; auditors and finance staff advised that such agreements be evidenced by county resolution per the county’s policies and state law. Copies of both vendor contracts were included in the meeting materials filed with county clerk’s office.
